TREZOR
A little device. A big layer of protection.

Security starts with the source. Only use Trezor Suite and instructions reached through trezor.io/start. Never share your recovery seed with anyone.

YOUR SETUP, STEP BY STEP

Ready when you are.

There’s no rush. Work through these steps in order and let your Trezor guide you along the way.

01
BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Get your essentials together

Choose a private place where you can focus, and allow yourself a little uninterrupted time. You’ll need your Trezor device, the included USB cable, a computer or compatible phone, and the recovery cards supplied with your device. Use a device and internet connection you trust, and keep your workspace away from cameras or other people while your recovery words are displayed.

Check that the packaging and device look as expected. If anything seems tampered with, stop and contact official Trezor Support through trezor.io/support. A genuine Trezor never arrives with a pre-filled recovery seed or asks you to use a seed printed on a card.

02
OFFICIAL COMPANION APP

Install Trezor Suite

Visit trezor.io/start by typing the address yourself or using a bookmark you trust. Follow the link there to download Trezor Suite for your operating system, or choose the available web experience. Check the address bar carefully before downloading: lookalike sites and sponsored search results can be misleading.

Install the latest version offered through Trezor’s official site. Suite helps you initialize your device, manage accounts, and review transactions, but it does not replace the device’s own confirmation. Do not install setup files sent to you in a message, and never give remote access to someone who claims they need to configure your wallet.

03
VERIFY ON YOUR DEVICE

Connect and check in

Connect your Trezor directly to your computer with the supplied cable. Open Suite and follow its prompts to install or update the device firmware if asked. Firmware installation is part of setup; confirm that the action appears on your Trezor screen and approve it using the controls on the device. If the computer displays a request that your device does not show, do not approve it.

Read prompts on the hardware wallet itself, not just on your computer. The device is designed to keep sensitive actions under your direct control. If Suite cannot see your Trezor, try another USB port or cable, close other wallet applications, and return to the official troubleshooting guidance rather than following unsolicited advice.

04
FRESH START

Create a new wallet

Select the option to create a new wallet when prompted. Follow the instructions on your Trezor and Suite, taking care to distinguish a new wallet from restoring an existing one. Your device will generate its own recovery seed during initialization. Never accept words provided by a website, a support agent, a video, or anyone else; the seed must be generated by your own device.

Set a device PIN if your model and setup flow offer one. Choose a PIN that is difficult to guess and enter it only as instructed by the device. Your PIN helps protect access to the hardware wallet, while the recovery seed is what can restore wallet access if the device is lost or damaged. They serve different purposes, so safeguard both appropriately.

06
PAUSE BEFORE YOU APPROVE

Make security a habit

Before confirming a transaction, review its details on the Trezor screen. Verify the recipient address and amount on the device, not only in the app or on your computer. Malware can change information shown on a compromised screen. If anything looks unfamiliar, cancel and investigate before proceeding. A transaction approved on the hardware wallet can be difficult or impossible to reverse.

Keep your device firmware and Trezor Suite up to date using official channels. Be cautious of unexpected messages, fake giveaways, urgent warnings, and links asking you to “validate” or “synchronize” a wallet. You do not need to reveal your recovery seed to receive funds, use Suite, or speak with support.

YOU’RE SETTING THE PACE

That’s your foundation.

Your Trezor is ready for you to explore at your own pace. Start by learning how accounts work, then make time to understand each asset and network before sending or receiving funds. A small test transaction can help you become familiar with the process.

A FEW QUICK ANSWERS

Good to know.

Simple reminders for the moments that matter.

Can Trezor Support help me recover my seed?

No. Your recovery seed is private and should never be shared. Support can help troubleshoot setup without seeing it. Anyone asking you to disclose it is not following safe support practices.

What if I lose or damage my Trezor?

A recovery seed can restore access using a compatible wallet recovery process. Keep your backup secure and available to you, but never enter it into a website or device unless you have independently verified the official recovery instructions and understand the risks.

Do I need to set everything up in one sitting?

It’s best to finish the on-device backup and verify it before relying on the wallet. Otherwise, pause in a safe place, keep the device secure, and resume only through the official setup flow.
